Production

Our Production Process

As a Secondary Aluminium refiner, we convert most of our materials into foundry ingots based on the aluminium – silicon alloy system, Secondary Aluminium production involves 2 general categories of operations, scrap pre-treatment and smelting/refining. Pre-treatment operations including sorting, processing and cleaning scrap. The smelting process heats the scrap aluminium to 850c. When the aluminium is molten additional alloy may be added to meet customers specifications. After the specification is checked for accuracy the molten aluminium is then cast into Ingots. These ingots are then typically DIN226/ADC12.

Why do we make Secondary aluminium ingots at Automet?

Well the answer is simple here at Automet we strive to Accelerate greater efficiency, Aluminium offers the fastest, safest, most environmentally friendly and value- added way to decrease mass and increase vehicle performance, boost fuel efficiency, extend battery range and reduce emissions. Therefore secondary aluminium builds a better vehicle… period. Low weigh aluminium will play a key role in the electric vehicle revolution. As well as the iconic design for generations to come building & construction will continue using secondary aluminium as a critical building material in the infrastructure of the future. Secondary aluminium ingots help building projects qualify for green building status. Using Secondary aluminium ingots in both sectors helps with developing a greener future.
